I’m a proud citizen of Paknam (Samut Prakan). It might have a bit of a "rough" reputation in the news and on social media, but to me, it’s home—the place where I grew up. I was away for 19 years, living, working, and chasing dreams in Australia, before deciding to move back 10 years ago. To this day, I’m not sure if those dreams I chased were even real, but Australia gave me one invaluable gift: the art of observation. Through photography, I learned that when you choose to look closer, you really see. It’s allowed me to experience Paknam from a whole new perspective—discovering its charm and its slower, laid-back vibe that feels worlds away from the chaos of Bangkok.

The photographs in this zine aren’t meant to document the city’s changes over time. Instead, they’re about building new memories on top of the ones from my childhood. Paknam might not look that different from Bangkok neighbouring provinces like Nonthaburi or Pathum Thani, but the bond I have with this place is what sets it apart. These images aren’t of famous landmarks; they’re personal records of my explorations from 2021 to 2025. I tried to retrace the steps of my younger self, visiting places I could still remember and some that have faded so much I hardly recognised them. Photography has taught me that looking through a lens fills in the gaps in your mind. In these images, I see both "Tum" from my childhood and the man I am today. Those two versions of me overlap perfectly in this collection.
